Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day,

First and foremost I want to say Happy Mother's Day to every single one of you.  I know many of you ARE Mom's - whether that be to children or fur babies.  I also know many of you, like me, adore your own Mom.  For some of you, this may be a really tough holiday because maybe your Mom isn't here.  It's a special, emotional day no matter how you look at it, and I hope each of you takes a moment to appreciate YOU and each of the special Moms in your life.

Like many of you, I think I have the best Mom in the world.  She's a pillar of strength no matter what she faces.  She's THAT person that everyone goes to when they need help, advice or just someone that makes them laugh.  Growing up my friends always loved my Mom and I can say now that I'm older, that still hasn't changed.

My mom is pretty fantastic and I'm proud that she's one of my very best girlfriends.  I'd be kidding myself to say that I tell her enough how much I appreciate her. I'm not sure words will even come close but please indulge a daughter while she tries.

My Mom will always listen to me without judgment.  I can talk to her about anything and everything.  When something happens in my life - no matter good or bad, she's the first one I want to call.  She is fiercely protective of me, my feelings and my family. She is always on my side - being honest with me if she thinks that I'm in the wrong, but always my cheerleader.

My Mom gives the absolute best hugs.  It doesn't matter if I saw her just yesterday or if it's been a month or two, she hugs me like she hasn't seen me in years.  She cares about me more than I ever realized - and still don't fully understand.  It used to drive me nuts when she would ask me to call her when I get home just so she knows I'm safe and this was AFTER I was living on my own.  I mean I'm over 40 now.  Mom, I do this every single day, and I can make it home by myself.  You gotta love it though.  And yes, I still call or text her just so she has peace of mind.

My Mom has such a big heart.  Sometimes I wish she didn't because people take advantage of someone as good as she is, but that's who she and she just doesn't know how to be any other way.  She has the biggest heart of anyone that I know and I'm constantly blown away by her selflessness.  If anyone needs anything she is the first to offer help and jump in - it doesn't matter what's going on with her. She only sees that someone needs help and helps them.  I mean we need that in today's world more than ever.  If I can be half as generous as my Mom is someday, I will have felt as if I have achieved something pretty damn special. She inspires me.  Always.

She believes in me more than I believe in myself.  I honestly don't think I will ever come across someone else that is more dedicated to my success than my Mom.  I can call her to say I got a raise, bonus, promotion - you name it.  She will be excited for me, but always says they didn't do enough for me.  She thinks they should build statues in my name practically - even that wouldn't be good enough.  She thinks I'm smart, talented and that there is no one else better - and I know that's not true, but there is something really special about knowing somebody feels that way about you.

My Mom has THE. BEST. LAUGH. You could stick me in a room with thousands of people and I could still pick out her laugh, her voice every single time.  She's got such a warped, sarcastic sense of humor, something I pride myself in taking after her.  She has this fantastic ability to laugh at herself too which is another reason she's awesome.  Her laughter is special because she's happy - genuinely happy.  I could tell you tales of her childhood that would disturb you.  Yet somehow she's a strong, confident, happy person.  She has the strength of 1,000 others combined.  To come from that type of upbringing and to genuinely be a happy person - to choose to be happy?  That's a super power all of its own.

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom and to all of you.  Now that I've shared a little about my Mom, I want to know what makes your Mom special?  Share with me in the comments below!

I hope you have a fantastic week!
